Be independent

Het is zover! Ik heb voor het eerst een nieuw, nog niet uitgegeven patroon mee getest (en goed bevonden)!

I did it! For the first time in my life, I helped testing a brand new pattern!

Enige tijd geleden vond ik op Facebook de patronen van Ellie&Mac. Aangezien er toch wel verschillende mijn aandacht trokken, besloot ik lid te worden van de groep én kocht ik alvast het ‘be curious’-patroon (waarover binnenkort meer).
Korte tijd later kwam er een oproep in die groep, want de maakster ging op zoek naar nieuw bloed voor haar testers-groep. Ik besloot mijn kans te wagen én werd toegelaten!
Toen de oproep voor de laatste testfase van de ‘Be-independent’ jurk kwam, twijfelde ik geen moment en tekende ik in. Spannend!

Mijn opdracht: maak de versie met korte mouwen, maatje 5 jaar. Hanne blij!
Met veel overgave begon ik aan het eerste testjurkje. Het bijzondere aan dit kleedje is de grote zak in het voorpand. Deze neemt eigenlijk de hele onderhelft van het voorpand in beslag. Ik moet toegeven: ik had er zo mijn twijfels bij. Zou deze jurk niet erg breed zijn bij mijn slanke dametjes?
Maar bij de eerste test-pasbeurt nam Hanne meteen alle twijfel weg. Ze was zo enthousiast over die hele grote zak! “Mama, mijn handen kunnen tot helemaal beneden!”
En mijn kleine, rasechte verzamelaarster had er ook meteen een bestemming voor. Ze anticipeerde ook al meteen op mijn eerste opmerking: “Mama, ik ga er geen vieze dingetjes indoen hoor! Ik ga dit kleedje aan doen om naar zee te gaan, en dan ga ik alle schelpjes van het strand erin doen!”. You gotta love her!

En zo bracht ze mij meteen ook op een idee voor de ‘finale’ versie!
Ik ging meteen aan de slag en naaide voor het eerst een zelf gemaakte applicatie op het voorpand: een schelp.
En zo heeft Hanne voor komende zomer dus meteen twee jurken waarmee ze op schelpenjacht kan. (Vlaag van nostalgie: wat zou ik als kind graag met zo’n kleedje het strand zijn opgetrokken! Mijn schelpenschat zou exponentieel zijn toegenomen! Al zou mijn mama het daar misschien niet zo hoog mee op hebben…)

I did it! For the first time in my life, I helped test a brand new pattern!

A while ago I stumbled upon the patterns of Ellie&Mac through Facebook.
And since several patterns had my attention, I decided to become a member of the EAM-facebookgroup. I started by buying the ‘be-curious’-pattern (tell you about that one in one of my next posts!)
Weeks went by, and then there was a call for new testers. I took my chances, and entered my name. And I was allowed in to the testers group, could not be more proud! When the call for final tests of the ‘be independent’ dress came in, I applied right away! Exciting!

My part was testing the ‘be independent dress’ size 5 with short sleeves. Very commited I started working on my first testdress. What makes this dress special is the very large pocket on the front panel. It litteraly takes half of the frontpanel. When I first started, I must admit I had some doubts. Wouldn’t this dress be ‘baggy’ for my thin girl?
But when Hanne first got to fit it, her enthusiasm was enormous! “Mommy, my hands can reach all the way down to the bottom of the dress!” And she anticipated my next reply: “Mommy, don’t worry, I won’t put icky stuff in here! I am going to wear this dress to the beach and put all the seashells I can find in here!” You gotta love her!

And that is how the idea for my final version was born: with a seashell applied to the pocket.
Now Hanne has two summerdresses to go hunting the beach for seashells! Wish I was a little girl again, I would have done excactly the same, had I had such a dress! 🙂
