Charlotte – Bella Sunshine Designs

Voor het eerst mocht ik ook testen voor Bella Sunshine Designs. Daar keek ik naar uit, want ik had al enkele patronen aangekocht en verwerkt, en was er heel tevreden over!
Zo maakte ik vorige Kerst 2x het ‘Sahara’-kleedje.
Niet alleen een super-eenvoudig patroon om te volgen, maar ook een heerlijk draaikleedje als resultaat!

Maar ik wijk af…
Kerst is intussen natuurlijk al lang verleden tijd, en intussen deed de lente zijn intrede. Wat zeg ik: we hebben net een hele week zomerzonnige lentedagen achter de rug!
Ideaal voor het Charlotte-kleedje in katoen, met een mooie open rug als eye-catcher!

Voor Hanne koos ik er een stofje uit van Cloud 9, dat ik intussen jammer genoeg nergens meer vind. Dit katoentje met blauwe vlinders leek uitermate geschikt voor dit project. En het bleek ook echt een voltreffer!
Net als ik houdt ook Hanne erg van vlinders (tot enkele maanden terug antwoordde zij steevast “Vlinder!” op de vraag “Wat wil jij later worden?”).
Op het eerste zicht lijkt dit een iets moeilijker patroon, maar dat is slechts schijn!
De grootste uitdaging zit hem in het maken van knoopsgaten.
Verder is het dankzij de zeer duidelijke handleiding, met per stap foto’s erbij, eigenlijk een eitje…

Voor Laure koos ik een zomers stofje met vogel-en-blaadjes-motief dat al eeuwen in mijn voorraad lag. Jammer genoeg had ik er niet voldoende van om het hele kleedje eruit te krijgen en vulde ik aan met een turquoise-met-witte-stipjes-stof.
Mocht ik het opnieuw doen, zou ik het rokdeel volledig in de stipjes-stof hebben gedaan, want ik hou niet zo van de stroken. Liefst had ik het helemaal in het stofje van het lijfje gezien… Ikzelf ben er qua stofkeuze dus net iets minder tevreden mee, maar gelukkig is ook Laure erg blij met haar nieuwe Charlotte-jurk!

For the first time I was also allowed to test for Bella Sunshine Designs. I was looking forward to that, because I had already bought and processed some of the BSD patterns, and I was very satisfied with them!

Amongst others I made the ‘Sahara’ dress for both of my daughters last Christmas. This made the ideal Christmas dress they could twirl around in. “With that deep neckline?” I hear you think… But I made shirts with a high collar to go with it, and with stockings it was extremely wearable, even on cold winterdays!

But I’m deflecting …

In the meantime, Christmas has long since gone, and in the meantime, spring has made its appearance. What am I saying: we have just finished a whole week of summery and very sunny spring days!

Ideal for the Charlotte dress in cotton, with a nice open back as an eye-catcher!

For Hanne I chose a fabric from Cloud 9, which I now unfortunately can not find anymore. This cotton woven fabric with blue butterflies seemed ideal for this project. And it really turned out to be a direct hit!

Just like me, Hanne also loves butterflies (until a few months ago she always answered “Butterfly!” to the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?”). At first glance, this seems a slightly more difficult pattern, but that is just a semblance! The biggest challenge is making the buttonholes. Furthermore, thanks to the very clear manual, with per step photos, it is very easy to make this super-cute dress!

For Laure I chose a summery fabric with bird-and-leaf motif that had been in my fabricstock for centuries. Unfortunately, I did not have enough of it to get the whole dress out of it and had to add a turquoise-with-white-dot fabric.

If I would re-do her dress, I would do the whole skirt in the dots fabric, because I do not like the strips as they are now. Ideally I would have made it all in the same fabric of the body … I myself am less satisfied with the fabric choice, but luckily Laure is very happy with her new Charlotte dress, so who am I to complain?

Two happy daughters, and therefore a happy mom!
