Niet alleen maakte ik de voorbije weken een Campbell jasje (zie onder) voor Laure dat paste bij dat van zus (dat jasje werd intussen overigens met een extra ruche nog een klein beetje verlengd), ik ging ook aan de slag voor mezelf! Ik nam deel aan de testing van het allernieuwste patroon van Ellie&Mac, jawel, een jasje! Maak kennis met de “Luna Jacket”.
Not only did I make a second Campbell jacket (see pictures) for Laure to match her sisters (meanwhile I added an additional ruffle to Hannes jacket to give it some more length), I also started working on a jacket for myself! I took part in the testing of the latest pattern from Ellie & Mac. ! Meet the “Luna Jacket”.
Al van zodra ik de oproep zag, wist ik welk stofje uit mijn voorraad hiervoor zou dienen: een fluffy rekbare (synthetische) faux fur met witte roosjes. Heerlijk winters, ik droom al van sneeuw! Helaas bleef dat niet bij dromen, want mijn huis zat binnen de kortste keren onder de ‘vlokjes’! 😱
As soon as I saw the call, I knew which fabric from my stock would serve: a fluffy stretchable (synthetic) faux fur fabric with white roses. Wonderful for winter, I am already dreaming of snow! Unfortunately, those dreams came true indoors, because my house was covered in ‘flakes’ in no time! 😱
Knippen betekende in dit geval dus ook poetsen… Stofzuiger in de aanslag…
Cutting in this case also meant cleaning … Vacuum cleaner at the ready …
Ik had wel even moeite om een bijpassend contrasterend stofje te vinden voor de band onderaan. Dat vond ik bij mijn ‘restjes’: een stofje waaruit ik ooit een ‘Nivalis’ van Sofilantjes knipte, en dat ik destijds kocht in Veritas. Door de lichtgroene kleur met glitters een leuk contrast, en toch nog winters. De witte stof kocht ik ooit op een Stoffenspektakel bij een kraampje van Driessen.
I did have some trouble finding a matching contrasting fabric for the band on the bottom of my jacket. I found one in my ‘leftovers’-box: a fabric from which I once cut a ‘Nivalis’ from Sofilantjes, and which I bought in Veritas at the time. The light green color with glitters gives a nice but soft contrast, and still feels like winter to me. I once bought the white fabric on a “Stoffenspektakel” at a stall of Driessen.
Het patroon op zich is redelijk ‘straight forward’, het moeilijkste aan dit project was de stof: pluizig en glad. Maar, al zeg ik het zelf, ik wou een winterse look, en die kreeg ik ook. Opnieuw een tof patroon van Ellie&Mac. Ik zie me hier al meteen toezicht houden op de speelplaats op een frissere dag, en ben er zeker van dat er heel wat kinderen mijn jasje zullen komen aaien en knuffelen…
The pattern itself is pretty ‘straight forward’, the hardest part of this project was the fabric: fluffy and slippery. But, even if I say so myself, I wanted a winter look, and I got one too. Again a great pattern from Ellie & Mac. I can already see me supervising the playground on a cooler day wearing this one, and I am sure that a lot of the children will come and caress my jacket …
ps: als je schrik hebt van ritsen: een deelbare rits stelt niks voor!
ps: if you are afraid of zippers (like I am…): putting in a divisible zipper is a piece of cake!
Omdat er toch wat vragen rezen bij de ontwerpster rond de gebruikte stoffen, werd de testperiode met enkele dagen verlengd. De ontwerpster, Lindsay Essary, had dit patroon immers eerder bedoeld als een lichte cardigan met rits en kap. Met haar nieuwe leidraad qua stofkeuze gingen we dus opnieuw aan de slag. En het resultaat mag er zijn!
Because some questions arose with the designer about the fabrics used, the test period was extended by a few days. The designer, Lindsay Essary, had previously intended this pattern as a light cardigan with zipper and hood. With her new guideline in the choice of fabric, we went to work again. And the results are great!
Ik koos voor een muntgroene tricot met motief van bladeren van Textielstad en werkte af met een muntgroene boordstof voor de mouwboorden en de voering van de kap. Ten slotte koos ik voor een (niet rekbaar) stukje kant als afwerking onderaan.

Deze keer maakte ik een maat S, en gebruikte er een deelbare rits van 70 cm voor, die ik aankocht bij Veritas.
I opted for a mint green tricot with motif of leaves from Textielstad and finished with a mint green border fabric for the cuffs and the lining of the hood. Finally, I opted for a (non-stretchable) piece of lace as a finish at the bottom.

Nu heb ik een jasje voor nazomerweer én een meer winters jasje voor als het toch wat frisser wordt 🙂
Maar toch even voor de duidelijkheid: het patroon is eigenlijk bedoeld om met dunnere, rekbare stoffen te maken.

Now I have a jacket for late summer weather and a more winter jacket for when it gets a bit more chilly 🙂
But just for the sake of clarity: the pattern is actually meant to be made with thinner, stretchable fabrics.
