Wegens een drukke periode op school lag het testen en blogposten schrijven op een laag pitje. Ook het naaien zelf kwam minder aan bod. Hoewel ik hier en daar wel eens een kwartiertje of half uurtje achter de naaimachine ging zitten en er een paar kleine (= letterlijk, want baby-cadeautjes) naaisels onder die machine vandaan rolden.
Maar de voorbije weken nam ik opnieuw deel aan testen bij Ellie&Mac. De naam alleen al, Be Creative, ik kon het niet laten… En er lagen een pak zachte sweaterstofjes op verwerking te wachten… (Ik geef toe, er zijn altijd wel redenen te bedenken om toch even wat te creëren met de naaimachine 🙂 )
Due to a busy period at school, testing and writing blog posts were at a low level. The sewing itself was also less extensive. Although every now and then I could be found behind the sewing machine for a quarter of an hour or half an hour and I did sew a few small (= literally, baby presents) things.
But in the last few weeks I once again participated in a test at Ellie & Mac. The name alone, Be Creative, I could not resist … And there were a lot of soft sweaterfabrics waiting for processing … (I admit, I can always think of reasons to get behind my sewing machine 🙂 )
De Be-creative-sweater/hoodie is een unisex patroon voor een trui. Ik ging voor het model met een kraag, maar je kan ook kiezen voor een kap. Met dit patroon kan je ook overschotjes verwerken, want zowel het voorpand als achterpand bestaat uit tweede delen. Ik verwerkte tussen deze patroondelen een elastische paspelband. Maar je kan ook afwerken met elastische rucheband of de delen gewoon zonder meer aan elkaar zetten. Je kan kiezen voor korte of lange mouw. In de kap/kraag is de mogelijkheid voorzien om met nestelringen en nestels te werken.
The Be-creative-sweater / hoodie is a unisex pattern. I went for the version with a collar, but you can also opt for a hood. With this pattern you can also process left-over-fabrics, because both the front and back are made of two parts. I used an elastic piping between these pattern parts. But you can also finish with elastic ruffle tape or simply put the parts together without piping. You can choose short or long sleeves. In the hood / collar the possibility is provided to work with grommets and drawstrings.
Ik testte mee in groep 1, en dan weet je dat er mogelijk nog heel wat veranderingen moeten worden doorgevoerd. Ik gebruikte dan ook overschotjes en kleinere lapjes voor mijn eerste versie. Aangezien ik op dat moment nog geen nestelringen en nestels ter beschikking had, werd het dus een versie zonder, vooral om de pasvorm te gaan bekijken. Hoewel ik bij aanvang dacht dat dit geen draagbare trui zou worden vanwege de restjesverwerking, vond ik het resultaat eigenlijk wél draagbaar. Alleen had ik deze versie genaaid voor Laure, maar was deze behoorlijk kort. Gelukkig is daar kleine zus, die nu een nieuwe trui in de kast heeft 🙂
I tested in group 1, so I knew that changes to the pattern were possible. I used left-overs and smaller pieces of fabric for my first try-out ersion. Since I did not have any grommets and drawstrings at that time, it became a version without, meant to take a look at the fit. Although I thought at the start that this would not be a wearable sweater because of the leftover processing, I found the result actually was wearable. I had sewn this version for Laure, but it was rather short. Fortunately, her little sister is always near and now has a new sweater in her closet 🙂
In testers group two, these “issues” were worked out and the pattern was further worked on. In the meantime, for safety reasons, the designer also decided to see the grommets as decorative, and therefore asked not to put any drawstrings through them. Of course I had just made a version with grommets and drawstrings in it. Because I thought it was a shame to take them out again, I just pulled them in a bit for the pictures. But I also took photos in which they are visible, so you can get the image. After all these years, a “first time” in sewing again: grommets. Purchased at Veritas. I did watch a you-tube movie on how to do it. This video helped me well on my way, and made for a successful practice attempt and also a successful result with Laures sweater.
Voor Laure combineerde ik voor de finale versie een stofje van stoffen.net (https://www.stoffen.net/70-15122-880_alpenfleece-reeen-in-het-bos-roze.html) met een stofje dat hier al eeuwen in mijn voorraad lag met oudroze achtergrond en witte stipjes.
Op de foto’s zie je de Be-creative-sweater maatje 6 jaar, verlengd tot maatje 7 jaar.
For Laures final version, I combined a fabric from stoffen.net (https://www.stoffen.net/70-15122-880_alpenfleece-reeen-in-het-bos-roze.html) with a fabric that has been in my stock for centuries, with an old pink background and white dots.
On the pictures you see the Be-creative-sweater size 6 years, lengthened to size 7 years.
For Hanne I chose the same fabric in a different color (https://www.stoffen.net/70-15122-320_alpenfleece-reeen-in-het-bos-mintgroen.html), with a matching mint green wellness fleece with a star motif (https: //www.stoffen.net/154-9910-621_wellnessfleece-sterretjes-mintgroen.html). This is again an ultra-soft sweater, size 5 years, lengthened to size 6 years.
We had fun doing this photo shoot, both outside (the sun came peeping through the clouds) and inside (with a nice cup of hot chocolate milk, deliciously cozy).
And the sweaters could suddenly also be worn for all the family visits we had last weekend!
