These dresses were on my to-sew-list for some time now: the Penelope dress by Violette Fields Threads and the Bellevue dress by Little Lizard King.
Since I don’t have a lot of sewing time, usually I do easy, quick-to-sew-projects. That means I usually sew knits.
These patterns, I knew I needed some time to finish them properly, so I waited for a vacation to make them.
Penelope is a VFT pattern for wovens, with a lot of possibilities. Some (more or less) new stuff for me: first time doing pin-tucks, second time doing a placket.
It took me quite some time to figure out which options I was going to make: there are two bodice options, 3 sleeve-options and different skirt options.
Once I had chosen, I started cutting my fabrics. Measuring, marking, … it all took me more time since I knew with woven, I had to do everything properly, there’s less room for errors…

As soon as I started sewing, I loved how the dress came together. The instructions with the pattern are perfect. So I was very proud with the result! And my daughter loves her New Year’s Eve dress!
Bellevue by LLK was the dress I had in mind for my youngest. She loves to twirl around, and I love ruffles on her, so this dress seemed perfect for the occasion. And it is!
I was a little bit afraid it wouldn’t be as pretty with a shirt underneath, since it is more of a summer-dress. But it works out just fine!
There was a lot of gathering to be done for the fluttersleeves and the ruffles on the skirt, but it was all worth it!
Fabrics I used are quilting cottons by quilting treasures, designed by Sarah summer and called “Woodland wonder”.

Je neemt best even contact op met de ontwerper zelf. Dat kan gemakkelijk via hun Facebook groep. Zowel Little Lizard King als Violette Field Threads hebben er 1. Normaalgezien krijg je via mail een link opgestuurd met een link erin om het patroon te downloaden. Kijk ook even bij ongewenste mail in je mailbox. Soms houdt de spam-filter mails tegen…
