Tegenwoordig hou ik nogal wat screenshots bij van foto’s van kledingstukken die ik mooi vind. Ik hou ze als inspiratie bij. Onlangs nam ik deze screenshots:

Deze kwam ik tegen terwijl ik aan het testen was voor de High Hopes Dolman Top van Ellie&Mac. Meteen moest ik denken aan één van de vorige tests waaraan ik deelnam, die van de Lucky Girl Top van Ellie&Mac. De combinatie van de dolman met de techniek van de mouwen van de Lucky Girl zou volgens mij perfect zijn om deze look te bereiken…
Zo gezegd, zo gedaan…

I came across these while testing for the High Hopes Dolman Top by Ellie & Mac. Immediately I was reminded of one of the previous tests I participated in, that of the Lucky Girl Top by Ellie & Mac. I think the combination of the dolman with the technique of the sleeves of the Lucky Girl would be perfect to achieve this look …
I just had to try…

Zo ging ik aan de slag:

This is how I accomplished it

1. Ik knipte de patroondelen uit mijn stof, een bruine tricot waarvan ik al lang niet meer weet waar ik hem haalde. Ik gebruikte hiervoor de patroondelen voor voor- en achterpand (Dolman, dus mouwen inbegrepen!), de heupboord en de nekboord. De mouwboorden tekende ik zelf. Ik nam een breedte van 4 cm en 85% van de lengte van de mouwopening.

1. I cut the patternpieces out of my fabric, a brown jersey. For this I used the pattern parts for front and back (Dolman, so including sleeves!), the waistband and the neckband. I drew the cuffs myself. I took a width of 1 1/2 inch and 85% of the length of the sleeve opening.

2. Om de schoudernaden dicht te maken, gebruikte ik de techniek van de Lucky Girl. Ik mat vanaf de nekboord 7,5 cm en speldde de schoudernaden tot daar vast. Aan het uiteinde van de mouw mat ik ongeveer 2,5cm en spelde dit.

2. To close the shoulder seams, I used the Lucky Girl technique. I measured 3 inches from the neckline down the shoulderseam and pinned it. At the end of the sleeve I measured about 1 inch and pinned this.

3. Ik stikte deze stukken aan elkaar met de naaimachine (niet de overlock!).

3. I stitched these pieces together with the sewing machine (not the overlock!)

4. Nadien vouwde ik de naadwaarde van de schoudernaad naar binnen, en stikte deze vast, beginnend aan de schouder bij het voorpand, helemaal tot aan de mouwboord, en vanaf daar weer helemaal terug naar de schouder toe voor de naadwaarde van de schouder aan het achterpand. Je stikt dus eigenlijk om de opening heen.

4. Afterwards I folded in the seam value of the shoulder seam, and stitched it, starting from the shoulder of the frontpanel, all the way to the sleeve end, and from there all the way back up to the shoulder for the seam value of the shoulder seam at the back. So you actually stitch around the opening.

5. Om ervoor te zorgen dat de mouw wel mooi om mijn arm heen blijft, naaide ik halfweg de opening van de schoudernaad het voor-en achterpand toch nog even samen met de hand. Op die manier krijg je visueel eigenlijk twee gleuven.

5. To make sure that the sleeve stays around my arm, I sewed the front and back pieces together by hand halfway through the opening of the shoulder seam. That way visually you actually get two slits.

6. Vervolgens zette ik de mouwboorden, nekboord en tailleboord er aan, en klaar is kees!

6. Then put on the cuffs, neckband and waistband, and you’re done!

Ik vond het resultaat alvast geslaagd! Mits een eenvoudige hack (die vooral bestaat uit het gebruiken van een techniek uit een ander patroon) kon ik zo mijn pinspiration verwezenlijken!

I thought the result was successful! Provided a simple hack (which mainly consists of using a technique from a different pattern), I was able to realize my pinspiration!
