Eigenlijk was ik niet van plan om in te stappen voor deze test. Ik was wel benieuwd, maar dit was zo’n patroon waar ik eerst even de foto’s van de testers wilde zien vooraleer ik het zelf zou gaan maken. Ik twijfelde wat over de pasvorm en vooral ook aan de ruche middenvoor. Maar toen kwam er een extra oproep omdat niet alle maten voldoende vertegenwoordigd waren… Je raadt het al: ik stapte toch in. Wie niet waagt… 🙂
Maar kijk, ik heb het me niet beklaagd. 🙂
Actually I was not going to get in for this test. I was curious, but this was a pattern where I first wanted to see the photos of the testers before I would make it myself. I had some doubts about the fit and especially about the ruffle in the front. But then an extra call came because not all sizes were sufficiently represented … You guessed it: I got in anyway. Every once in a while, you need to step out of that comfort zone…
And Hey, I’m not complaining 🙂

Told you I was heading for a sewing-with-woven-period, didn’t I!
Ik nam er een paar uit mijn voorraad, die waarvan de kleurrijkste al vijf jaar in mijn bezit was. Ik kocht het nog in het lokale stoffenwinkeltje dat intussen al lange tijd terug de deuren sloot. De zwart-witte stofjes kocht ik enkele maanden terug in de Wibra.
I picked out some woven fabrics out of my stash, The most colorful was in my possession for about five years. I bought it when I was just starting sewing in a local craft store that doesn’t even exist anymore… The black-and-white ones came from a local store and were really cheap.
Ik maakte als testversie een kleedje, maat 7 jaar, lengte 8 jaar. In die periode trok ik net enkele dagen naar zee, ideaal dus om wat foto’s te maken 🙂
For my testversion, I have sewn size 7, length size 8. Since we had Easter vacation, And the weather was nice, I drove to the beach and took some pictures.
Dit kleedje zit snel in elkaar, en het patroon beschikt over een duidelijke handleiding, aangevuld met een ruime hoeveelheid foto’s.
This dress comes together easily, and the pattern consists of a clear manual, that is full of pictures to help you out.
Bij het werken met katoen hou je de strijkplank best in de buurt. Dat was hier niet anders. Het is super handig als je vooraf een vouw strijkt om te tonen waar de ruche komt, en om de elastiekbanen en zoom voor te bereiden. Dit is een katoenen kleedje zonder sluitingen, en tweezijdig draagbaar (als je het fronsje vooraan weglaat). Lekker makkelijk om aan en uit te trekken, ook zonder hulp! Er zit elastiek in de mouwen, hals en taille.
If you are sewing woven fabrics, you should keep your ironing board close, so this dress is no exception. It really helps when you iron a memory crease for the ruffle on the front bodice, as the manual suggests, and prepare the tunnels and seams by ironing. There are no closures, and the top/dress can be worn front-and-backwards (if you don’t sew the ruffle on). Easy peasy to get in and out of the dress, so perfect for training your kids to get themselves dressed! It uses elastic band in the sleeves, the neckline and waist.
Na nog wat aanpassingen aan het patroon naaide ik ook nog een tweede versie met de finale patroondelen. Deze keer met een kleurrijk katoentje met vlekjes van Dear Stella Designs, die aan de rand wat dichter op elkaar staan. Aangezien ik niet voldoende had, werd het deze keer een top, zonder froezels, maar met een sierbandje onderaan de zoom.
After some finishing touches by Lindsey (designer at Ellie&Mac), I have sewn a second version with the final pattern pieces. Since I didn’t have enough of the fabric I wanted to use, I made the top this time and skipped the ruffle on the front bodice. This cotton woven fabric is from Dear Stella Designs .
Bij de patroondelen is ook de mogelijkheid toegevoegd om onderaan het rokdeel een gefronste band te plaatsen, zoals die op het paneel midden voor. Dat geeft je dus de mogelijkheid om ermee te variëren van sober, alledaags tot feestelijk.
The pattern includes pieces to sew a ruffled band on the skirt, just like the one on the front panel. That gives you the possibility to sew up a quick and playful dress, or even a party dress!
