Wacky Wednesday – Be Bold

Ik naaide weer eens wat voor een “Wacky Wednesday” van Ellie&Mac! Dan koop je zes patronen aan 1USD (dat is minder dan €1!), en deze keer is het Be Bold patroon één van de patronen in promo. Ik testte die destijds, als pril tester bij Ellie&Mac en naaide toen enkel twee tops. Deze keer wilde ik ook het kleedje eens maken. Dit is een patroon voor katoenen stof, dus past ook helemaal binnen mijn ‘ik-naai-eens-een-tijdje-hoofdzakelijk-met-katoen’-periode 🙂

It’s been a while since I last participated a “Wacky Wednesday” from Ellie & Mac! (That’s the weekly promo at Ellie&Mac, where you can buy six patterns at 1USD (that’s less than € 1!) And this time the Be Bold pattern is one of the patterns in promo. I tested it at the time as an early tester at Ellie & Mac and back then sewed only two tops. This time I also wanted to make the dress-version. This is a pattern for cotton fabric, so it also fits perfectly within my ‘I-sew-mainly-with-cotton’ period 🙂

Ik koos een heerlijk luchtige viscose uit mijn voorraad, en ging aan de slag!
Maxi-jurken zijn nog steeds in de mode, dus voerde ik een kleine hack uit.
Ik heb het patroon met 40 cm verlengd (gewoon de lijnen doorgetrokken middenvoor en de zijnaden), zodat het kleedje net boven mijn enkel valt.
Al toen ik de stof ging knippen, wist ik het: dit wordt één van mijn meest gedragen kleedjes in 2019! Intussen is hij al een week of twee af, en effectief, ik droeg de Be-Bold-Dress al meermaals!

I chose a wonderfully light viscose from my stock, and started working.
Maxi dresses are still in fashion, so I did a little hack.
I have extended the patternlines by 15.75 inch (just extended the middle front lines and the side seam lines accordingly), so that the dress falls just above my ankle.
When I started to cut the fabric, I knew: this will be one of my most worn dresses in 2019! In the meantime it has already been finished a week or two, and effectively, I already wore the Be-Bold Dress several times!

En aangezien dit een snel en eenvoudig patroon is, maakte ik ineens ook nog een top, waarbij ik een rekker in de zoom mee stikte, zodat het mooi aansluitend is. Dit is een los vallende top, ideaal voor warmer weer, waarbij je het gevoel hebt dat zowel alles tegen je aan gaat plakken… Zoals nu hier het geval is.
Ik koos voor een zwarte structuurkatoentje als basis, en werkte af met een wit kant met mooi afgewerkte zelfkant. Geen zoomwerk meer!

And since this is a fast and simple pattern, I made another top, stitching elastic band while forming the hem so that it is nicely fitted at the bottom. This is a loose-fitting top, perfect for when the weather gets hot, so hot it makes you feel like everything is sticking to your skin… As is the case here at the moment.
I chose a black structured cotton as a base, and finished with a white lace with beautifully finished hem. No more hemming for the ruffle!
