Ik naaide onlangs de Monday Morning Dress in één van mijn favoriete vlinderstofjes.
Dit kleedje is eigenlijk heel eenvoudig en voor een beginnend naaister dus zeker ook een haalbaar project!

I recently sewed the Monday Morning Dress in one of my favorite butterfly fabrics.
This dress is actually very simple and therefore also a feasible project for a starting seamstress!

Dit is een mouwloos kleedje, met een zoom die wat inspringt aan de zijnaden. Dat laatste maakt het een tikkeltje moeilijker om de zoom helemaal netjes te krijgen, maar wie de handleiding volgt en het rustig aan doet, zal er geen probleem mee hebben. Wie het zichzelf nog eenvoudiger wil maken, knipt een beleg voor de zoom. Dat naai je, zoals elk beleg, eerst met de rechte kanten op elkaar onderaan vast, waarna je het beleg naar binnen slaat, en er nog eens langs stikt.
Het rokdeel rimpel je eerst. Ik volgde hierbij niet helemaal de handleiding, en zette eerst het rokdeel voorpand vast aan het voorpand, en dat van het achterpand aan het achterpand. Pas dan deed ik de zijnaden.
De nekband en mouwboorden vragen misschien de allereerste keer wat oefening, maar hoeven op zich geen probleem te stellen.

This is a sleeveless dress, with a hem that is indented at the side seams. The latter makes it a bit more difficult to get the hem completely neat, but those who follow the manual and take it easy won’t have a problem with it. If you want to make it even easier for yourself, cut a facing for the hem. You sew that, like any facing, first with the right sides together at the bottom, after which you fold the facing inwards and stitch it secure like you would doing a regular seam. If needed, cut away excess fabric afterwards.
At first, you gather the skirt part. I deviated slightly from the manual, and sewed the gathered front panel of the skirt part to the front panel of the bodice first, and did the same with the back pieces. Afterwards I sewed the side seam in one movement.
The neckband and cuffs may require some practice the very first time, but should not be a problem in themselves.

Voor meer ervaren naaisters zit dit kleedje in geen tijd in elkaar en stellen er zich eigenlijk geen bijzonderheden qua technieken. Het is echt een snel-klaar-projectje!

For more experienced seamstresses, this dress is put together in no time and there are actually no special techniques involved. It is really a quick-ready project!
