#fall – Mijn 11jes & ik

Ellie&Mac heeft intussen al heel wat patronen in de webshop. Ik durf niet te tellen hoeveel ik er heb, en hoeveel patronen ik reeds uittestte…

Ellie & Mac already has a lot of patterns in the webshop. I dare not count how many I have and how many patterns I have already tested …

Maar natuurlijk leer je ook als ontwerpster bij, en verandert de aanpak naarmate je meer ervaring hebt. Daarom herbekijken ze bij Ellie&Mac geregeld hun (oudere) patronen, en worden deze aan een hertesting onderworpen.

But of course you also learn as a designer, and your approach changes as you have more experience. That is why they regularly review their (older) patterns at Ellie & Mac, and they are re-tested.

Zo ook het patroon van de “I love the 90’s Dress“. Dat kreeg de voorbije weken een grondige update, en wordt dus nu ge-re-released 🙂

Een aantal zaken werd aangepast. Zakken werden toegevoegd aan het patroon, hoera!
Ik was van plan deze uit te testen, maar wegens ziekte hield ik het uiteindelijk toch bij de simpelste versie, zonder zakken dus.
Bij het achterpand had je voorheen de keuze tussen een gebogen naad en een rechte naad. De laatste werd weggelaten, omdat deze zorgde voor een minder flatterende achterkant. Ook de algemene pasvorm werd bijgestuurd waar nodig.
Ten slotte werd in de handleiding ook een toevoeging gedaan, door aan de onderkant van het voorpand te werken met elastiek, zodat het kleedje mooier aflijnt.

A number of things have been adjusted. Pockets were added to the pattern, hurray!
I was planning to test this, but due to illness I ended up with the simplest version, so without pockets.
At the back you previously had the choice between a curved seam and a straight seam. The latter was omitted because it caused a less flattering back view. The general fit was also adjusted where necessary.
Finally, an addition was also made in the manual by working with elastic at the bottom of the front bodice, so that the dress has a more pronounced fit.

Hierboven zien jullie alvast mijn finale versie, die dus volgens het vernieuwde patroon en handleiding is gemaakt.

Ik dacht steeds dat dit de perfecte strandjurk was, met een of ander luchtig stofje en mouwloos of met korte mouwen. Maar zoals je ziet, kan het ook perfect met een jacquard-jersey en lange mouwen! Panty of legging eronder, laars aan, en je bent klaar voor het frissere herfstweer!

I always thought this was the perfect dress when going to the beach, with some airy fabric and sleeveless or with short sleeves. But as you can see, it is also perfect with a jacquard jersey and long sleeves! Tights or leggings underneath, put on your boots, and you’re ready for the cooler autumn weather!

Zoals jullie intussen wel bekend is, hou ik wel van een uitdaging, en dan komen de ‘pinspiration’-events van Ellie&Mac als geroepen! Deze keer nam ik deel aan de herfstversie.

As always, I love a good challenge, and that is exactly what realising a pinspired look is to me! This time, I took part in the ‘fall-pinspiration’-event Ellie&Mac is running.

Ellie&Mac bouwde intussen een ruim assortiment aan pdf-naaipatronen uit. De uitdaging gaat als volgt: laat je inspireren door een pin (op Pinterest, of een screenshot van een kledingstuk dat je zag in een webshop) en tracht dit zo goed mogelijk na te maken door gebruik te maken van één of meerdere Ellie&Mac-patronen.
Er worden voortdurend nieuwe patronen uitgebracht, en deze zijn steeds ‘on-trend’. Eigenlijk is er zelfs bijna geen uitdaging meer aan, zo uitgebreid en goed zijn de patronen van Ellie&Mac!

Ellie & Mac has since developed a wide range of PDF sewing patterns. The challenge is as follows: be inspired by a pin (on Pinterest, or a screenshot of a piece of clothing that you saw in a webshop) and try to replicate this as well as possible by using one or more Ellie & Mac patterns.
New patterns are constantly being released, and these are always ‘on-trend’. Actually there is almost no challenge anymore, the patterns of Ellie & Mac are so extensive and good!

Dit was mijn ‘pinspiration’:

Ik koos het patroon van de Favorite Sweater van Ellie&Mac om deze look na te bootsen. Een look waar ik wel van hou: jeans + sweater.
Ik hoefde geen hacks toe te passen, drukte gewoon de laag van S en M af (dit pdf-patroon is gelaagd, zodat je enkel de maat afdrukt die jij nodig hebt) en ging aan de slag. De mogelijkheid om lagen af te drukken is ideaal, omdat het op die manier heel eenvoudig is om het patroon helemaal naar je hand te zetten en aan te passen aan je eigen lichaam. Ik pas immers steevast aan naar M ter hoogte van de heupen. De rest van het kledingstuk is een S. Voor alle zekerheid toch maar even een testversie gemaakt, in afwachting van de stof die ik bestelde bij dresowka.pl 🙂

I chose the pattern of the Favorite Sweater from Ellie & Mac to imitate this look. A look I love: jeans + sweater.
I didn’t have to do any hacks, just printed the layer of S and M (this pdf pattern is layered, so you only print the size you need) and I got to work. The ability to print layers is ideal, because it makes it very easy to adjust the pattern to your own body. After all, I always adjust to M at the height of the hips. The rest of the garment is an S. Just to be sure I made a test version, while waiting for the fabric I ordered from dresowka.pl 🙂

De mouwboord leek me te lang, dus knipte ik slechts de helft. Maar dan komt hij dus, zoals je ziet, te kort uit. Goed dat ik eerst een testversie maakte… Niettemin een zeer draagbaar teststuk!

The sleeve collar seemed too long to me, so I cut only half. But then, as you can see, the sleeve is too short. Good that I first made a test version … Nevertheless, a very wearable test piece!

En ten slotte werd dit mijn ‘finale’ trui. Ik ben best tevreden! Vinden jullie mijn opzet geslaagd?

And finally this became my ‘final’ sweater. I’m quite satisfied! Do you find my setup successful?
