Eens iets helemaal anders, en geen aan-foto’s deze keer 🙂

Ik maakte het gloednieuwe patroon van Annelaine Patterns, de Penelope Panties.

Something completely different, and no on-photos this time 🙂
I made the brand new pattern from Annelaine Patterns, the Penelope Panties.

Als je veel naait, heb je ook heel wat stofrestjes… Dit patroon zorgt ervoor dat ook die restjes nog kunnen dienen! Op de foto de gewone versie, maar je kan ook de colorblocked versie naaien, om zelfs nog kleinere restjes te verwerken!

If you sew a lot, you also have a lot of fabric scraps … This pattern ensures that those scraps can still serve! On the photo the normal version, but you can also sew the colorblocked version, to process even smaller scraps!

Niet echt moeilijk, de grootste uitdaging zit hem in het aanzetten van de elastiekbanden. Maar je kan ook kiezen voor banden, iets eenvoudiger. Dan gebruik je gewoon hetzelfde principe als bij het aanzetten van een nekboord.

Not really difficult, the biggest challenge lies in sewing on the elastic bands. But you can also opt for bands, something easier. Then you just use the same principle as when putting on a neckband.

Een tijdje terug zag ik een oproep voor testers van Little Ragamuffin, voor een shirt/kleedje met dolman-mouwen (geen apart ingezette mouw), en ik schreef me in. Ik werd ook toegelaten, alleen had ik het echt niet door… Pas toen er een oproep voor extra testers verscheen met een filmpje erbij dat mijn aandacht trok, en ik opnieuw inschreef, merkte ik dat ik eigenlijk al deel uitmaakte van de testersgroep. Beter laat dan nooit, maakte ik gauw twee versies, kijk maar!

A while ago, I reacted on a call for testers by Little Ragamuffin, for a Dolman style shirt/dress for the misfit collection. I actually got in, but noticed it really late… Actually I only noticed it when the extra call for some quickly testers came, which immediately caught my eyes because of the fun video that was attached… That made my apply again, and this way noticing I was in already… I jumped in, and made two versions. Watch and see!

Tijdens het testen, was het de testers opgevallen dat je de versie van het kleedje met ‘mega wings’ eigenlijk op heel veel verschillende manieren kon dragen. Meteen was er dan ook sprake van ‘de magische jurk’. Een toffe, onverwachte meevaller dus!

During testing, testers noticed you can style this dress in so many ways, they started calling it ‘the magical dress’. A happy coincidence!

Alhoewel ik gewoonlijk geen fan ben van nauw aansluitende kleedjes, vooral niet ter hoogte van mijn heupen, moest ikd eze toch echt wel eens proberen!

Even though I usually am not a big fan on tight fitting dresses on my, I just had to try this one!

Het was sowieso mijn snelste naaisel ooit! In minder dan een half uurtje zat de hele jurk in elkaar! Het patroon bestaat dan ook eigenlijk slechts uit drie delen. Je print het voor- en achterpand af, en tekent zelf de nekband (instructies in de handleiding inbegrepen).

It is by far my quickest sew ever! Came together in less then half an hour! Consisting of only three pattern pieces, it is perfect for beginners!

Eerst maakte ik de mega-wing versie op knielengte. Ik voegde onderaan nog wel een cm of 7 toe, en gebruikte transparante elastiek bij het vastzetten van de nekband. Dit laatste om te verkomen dat de nekband uit gaat rekken wanneer je de jurk in verschillende stijlen draagt. Ik koos voor de asymmetrische neklijn. Ik kon alvast in geen tijd dit kleedje omstijlen tot vijf verschillende versies, en kan er nog wel meer bedenken… Dit is echt het ‘ene kleedje dat heerst boven alle andere!’

I started with constructing the mega wing dress. I did add 3 inches to the skirt and have used transparent elastic band in the neckband seam, to make sure the neckband doesn’t get stretched too much when going from one style to another. I chose the asymmetrical neckline. I was able to wear this one dress in at least 5 different styles and can think of more! This really is the ‘one dress to rule them all’!

Stof/fabrics: ZNOK Design – Sylvana (gekocht bij Hazeltjes stoffen, maar deze stof is uitverkocht)

Dat maakt deze jurk ook perfect voor overgangsseizoenen! Je kan in seconden gaan van een stijlvol kleedje met lange mouwen naar een mouwloos klaar-om-naar-het-strand-te-gaan-kleedje, of alles daar tussenin 🙂

This dress is perfect as a transitional piece in your closet! You can go from a stylish long sleeved dress to a sleeveless ready-to-go-to-the-beach dress in seconds!

Je kan het korter of langer dragen, en ook de mouwlengtes kan je aanpassen terwijl je het draagt. Je kan de mouwen naar binnen trekken voor een mouwloze top, je kan de mouwen knopen in je nek, op je buik of rug of er slechts 1 mouw uithalen en voor een asymmetrische jurk kiezen. Er zijn zoveel stijlen te bedenken!

You can wear it shorter or longer, adjust the sleeve length while wearing it. You can pull the sleeves in, or use the to tie them in the neck, the waist or the back. Thus creating a different style every time!

Ik maakte ook nog een tweede versie, deze keer shirt-lengte. Ik koos dit maal voor de medium-wing versie, 3/4-lengte en de boothals als neklijn. Wanneer je de top met lange mouwen maakt, kan je ook deze in verschillende stijlen gaan dragen!

I have made a second one, this time shirt-length. I opted for medium wing, 3/4 sleeve with the boatneck neckline. If you would make it long sleeved, you could also play around with different styles for the shirt!

Ik ben er zeker van dat ik dit patroon nog vaker ga maken, want ook de nauw aansluitende no-wing versie wil ik als shirt wel even uitproberen!

I’m pretty sure I will be using this pattern more often, since I also want to give the no-wing bodycon version of the shirt a go!

Ik was al lang opzoek naar een zomerse badjas. Eentje waarin ik me kan hullen, zonder het te warm te krijgen. Gewoon omdat ik het fijn vind om iets aan te hebben. En toen kwam ik het patroon van de Grab ’n Go van Rad Patterns tegen, dat (tijdelijk?) gratis beschikbaar was. Een heel basic patroon, net wat ik nodig had. Ik koos voor een heel luchtig mesh-stofje dat ik kocht via de webshop van Stoffen.net. Deze stof is intussen wel uitverkocht.

I was looking for a summer bathrobe for a long time. One in which I can wrap myself, without it being to warm. Just because I like wearing something. And then I came across the pattern of the Grab ’n Go from Rad Patterns, which was (temporarily?) available for free. A very basic pattern, just what I needed. I chose a very light mesh fabric that I bought through the Stoffen.net webshop. This fabric has since sold out.

Dit is zeker en vast één van mijn snelste naaisels ooit, van knippen tot klaar in minder dan een half uur! En dat ondanks de stof waarmee ik werkte, die toch niet zo evident is. Maar het houdt letterlijk niet meer in dan de voorpanden aan het achterpand zetten bij de schoudernaad, de mouwen inzetten en vervolgens de zijnaden dicht naaien. Ik deed dit alles met mijn overlock. Ik lockte zowel de mouwzoom als alle andere randen, en nogmaals omzomen vond ik in dit geval overbodig. Het zou wellicht eerder tegen- dan meegewerkt hebben door de aard van de stof en uiteindelijk zou je nauwelijks het verschil merken. Ik maakte maatje S.

This is certainly one of my fastest sews ever, from cutting to ready in less than half an hour! And that despite the material I worked with, which is not that obvious. But it literally means no more than matching the front pieces to the back at the shoulder seam, inserting the sleeves and then stitching the side seams shut. I did all this with my overlock. I locked both the sleeve hem and all other edges, and didn’t think hemming was necessary in this case. It would perhaps have been more likely to have worked against me because of the nature of the material and in the end you would hardly notice the difference. I made size S.

Onlangs kocht ik in “De Stoffenknop” te Merelbeke een overschotje ‘pearl blue’. Net genoeg om een losse top met spaghetti-bandjes uit te krijgen. Als patroon gebruikte ik het damespatroon van de Sorrento jurk van Little Lizard King. Ik gebruikte echter enkel de patroondelen voor het bovenlijf, die ik verlengde zodat het net tot op mijn heupen valt. 

Recently I bought a left-over piece of ‘pearl blue’ in “De Stoffenknop” in Merelbeke. Just enough to create a loose top with spaghetti straps. As a pattern I used the women’s pattern of the Sorrento dress by Little Lizard King. However, I only used the pattern parts for the upper body, which I extended so that it just falls to my hips.

Zo creëerde ik een heerlijk luchtig topje, ideaal voor warme dagen, en leuk te combineren met een jeansbroek of rok.

This way I created a wonderfully airy top, ideal for warm days, and nice to combine with jeans or a skirt.
