Op school is het de gewoonte om deel te nemen aan carnaval, waarbij de kinderen verkleed naar school mogen en er een kleine stoet is, met bijhorend feestje.
Deze week is het op onze school zo ver, en dus doken de dochters thuis de verkleedkoffer in. Kwam de oudste tot de constatatie dat veel dingen te klein zijn geworden. Ze wilde wel graag een prinses zijn, maar geen enkel kleedje paste haar nog…

Dus dook mama de stapel stofjes in, en zocht en vond er de geschikte stoffen voor een prinsessenkleedje: een zachte jeansblauwe velours van Driessen en een witte tule kant met borduursel en pareltjes er op, ooit gekocht bij Stoffen.net.

So mommy dived into the pile of fabrics, and searched and found the suitable fabrics for a princess dress: a soft jeans-blue velvet by Driessen and a white soft-mesh with embroidery and pearls on it, once purchased from Stoffen.net.

En ik wist meteen ook welk patroon ik zou gaan gebruiken: de Sailor Tunic & Dress van Ellie&Mac. Dat is uitermate geschikt om te dienen als basis voor verkleedkleren!

And I immediately knew which pattern I would use: the Sailor Tunic & Dress by Ellie & Mac. That is extremely suitable to serve as a basis for dressing up clothes!

Ik paste het bovenlijfje aan, zodat het middenpaneel naar onderen toe spitser werd, en paste ook de zijpanelen vooraan hieraan aan.

I adjusted the bodice so that the center panel became more pointed downwards, and also adjusted the front side panels accordingly.

Verder verlengde ik het rokdeel voor de onderrok, zodat deze net boven de enkels valt (zo kan er gerust nog een broek onder als het koud is…). Ik knipte nog een tweede keer het rokdeel in de witte soft-mesh, maar dit maal in drie delen in plaats van op dubbele stofvouw.
Zo bekwam ik een achterpand (op enkele stofvouw) en ik rondde het patroondeel af – zoals op de foto getoond – en knipte dit dan gespiegeld.

Furthermore, I lengthened the skirt part for the underskirt, so that it falls just above the ankles (so there can safely be a pair of pants underneath when it is cold …). I cut the skirt part a second time in the white soft mesh, but this time in three parts instead of on the double fabric fold.
So I got a back piece (on one fold) and I adjusted the pattern part of the skirt, rounding it – as shown in the photo – and then cut it mirrored.

Ik maakte het kleedje dit maal zonder mouwen. Ik liet de mouwen gewoon weg, en sloot de mouwzoom met de burrito-methode.

This time I made the dress without sleeves. I just left out the sleeves, and closed the sleeve hem with the burrito method.

En tadaaah: één avondje knippen en een uurtje naaien later zat het kleedje in elkaar, en zo nog ruim op tijd voor het carnavalsfeestje op school!

And tadaaah: one evening of cutting and an hour of sewing later, the dress was put together, and so well in time for the carnival party at school!

Een vrij uitgebreide hack, die helemaal uitdraaide zoals ik hoopte!
