Ik volg sedert een tijdje French Poetry Designs op Instagram. Een Franse ontwerpster die al enkele patronen op de markt bracht die geheel naar mijn smaak zijn. Maar… in katoen, en dus toch weer net even anders dan werken met stretchy stoffen. Minder marge om een foutje te maken. Ik maak tegenwoordig, zoals zovele naaisters die werken en huishouden en kinderen combineren, zeker nu, vooral snel-klaar-projecten. Dit is daar niet eentje van.

I have been following French Poetry Designs on Instagram for a while. A French designer who already released some patterns that are entirely to my taste. But … in cotton, and therefore slightly different from working with stretchy fabrics. Less margin to make a mistake. Nowadays, like so many seamstresses who work and combine household and children, I make especially quick-ready projects. This is not one of them.

Het Lune patroon heeft een erg vrouwelijke snit, met een V-vormige hals -en neklijn. Bij mijn eerste pasbeurt van het lijfje, bleek dat ik het veel te ruim zat en eigenlijk nergens op leek… Het patroon hield immers geen rekening met mijn cup-maat.
Even contact opgenomen met de ontwerpster, en die stuurde mij meteen een aangepast patroondeel op voor dames met een kleinere buste. Dus opnieuw aan de slag.
Hoewel het al veel beter zat, heb ik er nadien nog heel wat kleinere aanpassingetjes gedaan vooraleer ik de pasvorm naar mijn zin vond. Ook de blinde rits was voor mij, weer maar eens, een uitdaging… Misschien moet ik toch maar eindelijk eens zo’n blinde-rits-voetje aanschaffen…
Dit was er eentje van bloed, zweet en net geen tranen 😉
Maar nu het af is, vind ik het wel helemaal geslaagd!

The Lune pattern has a very feminine cut, with a V-shaped neckline. On my first fitting of the bodice, it turned out that it was much too spacious and actually looked nothing like what I hoped for … The pattern did not take into account my (smaller) cup size.
So I contacted the designer, who immediately sent me a custom pattern piece for ladies with a smaller bust. So I got to work again.
Although it was much better, I made a lot of smaller adjustments afterwards before I found the fit to my liking. The blind zipper was once  again a challenge for me … Maybe I should finally buy a blind zipper foot …
This was one of blood, sweat and just no tears 😉
But now that it is finished, I think it is completely successful!

Ik maakte dit kleedje in een viscose crêpe van Stoffen.net met de naam ‘Tropische bladeren’. Het is intussen jammer genoeg niet meer beschikbaar. De stof valt heerlijk vloeiend en luchtig, en er is ook nauwelijks strijkwerk aan, dus dat is mooi meegenomen!

I made this dress in a viscose crepe from Stoffen.net with the name ‘Tropical leaves‘. Unfortunately it is no longer available. The fabric is wonderfully smooth and airy, and there is hardly any ironing needed, so that is a bonus!

Dus voor de dames die nu net iets meer tijd om handen hebben, en misschien net iets verder gevorderd zijn als ik in het naaien met katoen voor zichzelf: deze is zeker een poging waard! Op zich is er, behalve de blinde rits, niet echt veel moeilijks aan. Alleen had ik wat moeite om de pasvorm voor mij goed te krijgen. Wellicht zijn dames met een vollere buste makkelijker af 😉

So for the ladies who now have a little more time on their hands, and maybe are just a little more advanced than me in sewing cotton: this one is definitely worth a try! In itself, except for the blind zipper, it is not really much difficult. Only I had some trouble getting the fit right for me. Perhaps ladies with a fuller bust are easier off 😉

De handleiding is Engelstalig. De maten staan in ‘inches’, maar hier en daar worden ook de afmetingen in cm vermeld. Het kleedje gaat van maat 2 tot en met 16 en heeft verschillende opties.

The manual is in English. The measurements are in ‘inches’, but here and there the measurements are also stated in cm. The dress goes from size 2 to 16 and has different options.

Ik maakte versie C, met mouwen en maxi-lengte. Maat 8, aangepast naar maat 10.
Als ik ooit eens tijd te veel heb (kan dat wel…???), maak ik zeker nog een versie, zonder blinde rits. Aangezien de neklijn zo diep is, lijkt het aan en uittrekken niet zo’n probleem.
Enkel de taille kan dan misschien problemen geven, als die te nauw is, krijg je het kleedje natuurlijk moeilijk over je boezem of heupen heen. Maar iets zegt me dat dat dan weer een voordeel kan zijn van een minder volle boezem 🙂
Of ik pas het achterpand aan en werk met elastiek in de taille? Of ik maak dit kleedje in tricot? Opties genoeg om uit te testen 🙂

I made version C, with sleeves and maxi-length. I made size 8, graded to size 10.
If I ever have too much time (is that possible … ???), I will certainly make another version, without a blind zipper. Since the neckline is so deep, putting on and taking off doesn’t seem like much of a problem without it.
Only the waist may cause problems, if it is too narrow, it is of course difficult to get the dress over your bust or hips. But something tells me that this can be an advantage of a less full bosom 🙂
Or do I adjust the back and work with elastic at the waist? Or do I make this dress in jersey? Plenty of options to test out 🙂
