Nu het zomer wordt, was het tijd voor aangepaste nachtkleding voor mijn dochters, dus ging ik aan de slag met een toffe nieuwe stof van ZNOK designs: Bokisar by FraMia. Ik combineerde met een zachte, soepel vallende tricot in zalmroze en donkerblauw. Maar ook met een streepje wit.

Now that summer is coming, it was time for my daughters to wear custom nightwear, so I started working on it with a great new fabric from ZNOK designs: Bokisar by FraMia. I combined with a soft, supple jersey in salmon pink and dark blue. But also with a dash of white.

Set 1: Starry nig ht pj’s – Sofiona Designs

Dit patroon stond al maanden op mijn verlanglijstje! Een patroon met veel mogelijkheden, daar hou ik wel van. Je kan het immers eenvoudig houden, maar je kan ook all-the-way gaan met ruches. Persoonlijk vind ik dat ruches een speels en vrouwelijk effect hebben, en dus ging ik all-the-way 🙂
Daarnaast kan je ook leuk gaan colour blocken, nog een plus.
En wat het helemaal af maakt, is het feit dat je een pyjama of nachtkleedje kan maken. Dat is wat mij betreft de kers op de taart, want ik vind het leuk om mijn meisjes te laten twinnen, maar wil niet dat ze exact hetzelfde dragen.
Bovendien mouwloos, en dus heerlijk wanneer het warm is!

This pattern has been on my wish list for months! A pattern with many possibilities, that’s what I like. After all, you can keep it simple, but you can also go all-the-way with ruffles. Personally, I think ruffles have a playful and feminine effect, so I went all-the-way 🙂
You can also have fun color blocking, another plus.
And what makes it complete is the fact that you can make pajamas or a nightgown. As far as I’m concerned, that’s the icing on the cake, because I like having my girls twinning, but don’t want them to wear the exact same thing.
In addition, sleeveless, so great when it’s hot!

Voor de jongste maakte ik een nachtkleedje, met ruches onderaan. Wat ze er zelf het leukst aan vindt? Dat het bijna tot op haar enkels valt! Ik maakte maat 6 jaar, verlengd tot 7 jaar.
Voor de oudste ging ik dan weer voor de pyjama-versie. Maar ook hier met ruches aan de broekspijpen. Voor haar maakte ik maat 8 jaar.

For the youngest I made a nightgown with ruffles at the bottom. What she likes most about it? That it almost falls to her ankles! I made size 6 years, extended to 7 years.
For the oldest I went for the pajama version. But also here with ruffles on the legs. For her I made size 8 years.

Zeg nu zelf: ze stralen in hun nieuwe pyjama-set, toch?

Now say for yourself: they shine in their new pajama set, right?

Set 2: Grow-with-me pj’s – Ellie&Mac (aff.link)

Door het combineren met uni-stoffen, hield ik nog voldoende over voor een tweede set. Deze keer ging ik aan de slag met de Grow-with-me van Ellie&Mac. Een gratis patroon dat heel wat opties biedt. Eigenlijk vergelijkbaar qua opties met bovenstaand patroon, alleen met mouwen en zonder ruches onderaan.
Maar ook hier kan je dus spelen met verschillende stoffen, en is er zowel een slaapkleedje als pyjama beschikbaar.

By combining with plain fabrics, I still had enough for a second set. This time I went to work with the Grow-with-me pajamas from Ellie & Mac. A free pattern that offers a lot of options as well. Actually similar in terms of options with the above pattern, only with sleeves and without ruffles at the bottom.
But here you can also play with different fabrics, and there is both a sleeping dress and pajamas available.

Voor de jongste maakte ik ook hier maat 6 jaar, verlengd tot 7 jaar. Voor de oudste maat 8 jaar, verlengd tot 9 jaar.
Het enige wat ik aanpaste, was de lengte van de broekspijpen en de mouwen. Ik korte beiden in.
Bij dit patroon is het broekje meer aansluitend.
Wie wil, kan er vrij eenvoudig zelf een ruche bijmaken. Ik hield het hier echter gewoon bij de patroondelen zoals ze voorzien zijn.
Bij dit patroon is er dan wel weer een faux-placket voorzien, met ruche.
Ook de combinatie met wit is tof.

All I adjusted was the length of the trouser legs and the sleeves. I shortened both.
The pants are more fitting with this pattern.
If you want, you can easily create a ruffle yourself. However, I just made them as they are provided.
In this pattern there is a faux-placket with a placket ruffle to embellish the shirt.
The combination with white for the bodice ruffle also works great.

In elk geval zijn de meisjes en ik helemaal verliefd op deze twee sets!

In any case, the girls and I are completely in love with these two sets!

Funfetti Donut Top, Tunic & Dress

Het nieuwste patroon van Candy Castle Patterns is alweer een pareltje! De Funfetti Donut Top, Tuniek en Kleedje beschikt over heel wat opties en maar liefst 8 verschillende stijlen! Zo zijn er drie soorten rokdelen: een gewone cirkelrok, een dubbele cirkelrok en een hoog-laag rok, allen in verschillende lengtes beschikbaar, gaande van peplum/tuniek over mini-jurk tot een rokdeel op knielengte. Er zijn ook heel wat verschillende mouwopties, gaande van mouwloos over korte mouw naar lange mouw en de mogelijkheid om met een korte gedrapeerde mouw (laat het ons ‘vlindermouw’ noemen) of een lange mouw met volants.
Je kan dus eindeloos gaan variëren, en zelfs rok-opties gaan combineren!
Dat was wat ik deed: ik combineerde de mini-dress length rok in dezelfde stof als het lijfje met een dubbele cirkelrok op jurk-lengte in zachte tule.
Ik had nog een restje ZNOK-stof liggen van de Breezy-jurk die ik een tijd terug voor mezelf maakte, dat net voldoende was hiervoor (lang leve restjes!). De tule lag hier al een tijdje op bestemming te wachten. Het was puzzelwerk, maar ik kon er dus heel nipt de dubbele cirkelrok uithalen. Dat zorgt voor wat meer volume, en was dus ideaal voor dit naaiproject!

Candy Castle Patterns‘ newest pattern is another gem! It’s packed with options! There are three types of skirt parts: a regular circle skirt, a double circle skirt and a high-low skirt, all available in different lengths, ranging from peplum / tunic over mini dress to a knee length skirt. There are also quite a few different sleeve options, ranging from sleeveless over short sleeve to long sleeve and the option to have a short fluttersleeve from or a long sleeve with flounces.
So you can make endless variations, and even combine skirt options!
That was what I did: I combined the mini dress length skirt in the same fabric as the bodice with a dress-length double circle skirt in soft tulle.
I still had some leftover ZNOK fabric from the Breezy dress that I made for myself a while back, which was just enough for this dress (long live scraps!). The tulle had been waiting here for a while. It needed to puzzle, but I was able to get out the double circle skirt very closely. This provides a bit more volume, making it ideal for this sewing project!

Een extra optie in het patroon is ook de crop-top lengte. Mijn dochters noemen dit ‘een blote-buik—shirt’. Dat vinden ze helemaal hip! Ik voegde er echter nog een ‘kleinigheidje’ aan toe, namelijk een bijhorende rok. Ik gebruikte daarvoor gewoon de rokdelen die bij het patroon horen en zette er een tailleband aan.
Voor de tailleband gebruikte ik een elastiekband. Ik knipte deze 3 cm korter dan de tailleomtrek. De korte uiteindes aan mekaar naaien, zowel de onafgewerkte bovenkant van de rokdelen als de tailleband in vier gelijke delen verzetten en dan spelden en vaststikken met de lockmachine. Eenvoudig én een regelrechte hit hier!
Als kers op de taart gaf ik er een extra speels tintje aan door de rok om te zomen met een rolzoompje.

An extra option included in the pattern is the crop-top length. My daughters call this ‘a bare belly shirt’. They think that’s totally hip! However, I added a ‘little something’ to it, namely a matching skirt. I just used the skirt parts that belong to the pattern and put on a waistband.
I used an elastic band for the waistband. I cut this a little over 1 inch shorter than the waist circumference. Sew the short ends together, divide the raw edge of the skirt and the waistband in four equal parts and then pin and stitch with the lock machine. Simple and a real hit here!
As icing on the cake, I gave it an extra playful touch by hemming the skirt with a rolled lettuce hem.

Spring is in the air!

De lente is eindelijk gearriveerd! De regenachtige en vooral winderige dagen hebben plaats geruimd voor de lente-zon. Hoe gek deze tijden ook zijn – ik kan er maar niet aan wennen – de natuur gaat zijn gewone gangetje. En gelukkig, denk ik dan, is het in deze periode, waar de dagen lengen, en de zon aan sterkte wint. Dat helpt mij alvast om goede moed te houden. Positief denken!

Spring has finally arrived! The rainy and especially windy days have given way to the spring sun. As crazy as these times are – I just can’t get used to it – nature is going its way. And fortunately, I think then, it is during this period, where the days lengthen, and the sun gains strength. That helps me to keep in good spirits. Think positive!

De voorbije week werkte ik aan enkele nieuwe projectjes. Ik ontving enkele prachtige ZNOK-stofjes, en die verwerkte ik in twee lente-jurken. Voor de patronen ging ik de mosterd halen bij Sofilantjes. Lekker lokaal, en steevast een mooi resultaat!

Ook al lijkt dit kleedje op de rug ingewikkeld, het is het feitelijk niet. Niet in het minst omdat de uitleg zeer duidelijk is en met de nodige tekeningen als visuele ondersteuning. Ik knipte maat 40. Ik ging voor het lijfje met hoge taille (empire waist) en deed verder geen aanpassingen. In de banden op de rug zit elastiek, zodat deze niet uitgerokken kunnen worden. Je kan ervoor kiezen om framilonband in de neklijn te stikken, wat toch als suggestie gegeven wordt, zeker wanneer je de maxi-rok kiest. Ik deed dit echter niet, omdat ik elastiek in de taille naaide, bij het bevestigen van het rokdeel aan het lijfje. Die zorgt ervoor dat de rok gedragen wordt door mijn heupen, en bijgevolg dat het gewicht van het rokdeel niet te veel trekt aan het bovenlijf. En uiteraard koos ik ervoor om zakken in de zijnaden te naaien, die overigens in het patroon inbegrepen zijn.

Although this dress on the back seems complicated, it is not actually. Not least because the explanation is very clear and with the necessary drawings as visual support. I cut size 40. However, I did not do this because I sewed elastic at the waist when attaching the skirt part to the bodice. This ensures that the skirt is worn by my hips, and therefore that the weight of the skirt part does not pull too much on the upper bodice. And of course I chose to sew pockets in the side seams, which are included in the pattern.

SOLIS

En nu ik dan toch de smaak te pakken had, ineens ook een tweede ZNOK-stofje verknipt. Deze keer om er een Solis voor dames van te maken. Ik maakte de Solis voor kinderen al enkele malen, maar de damesversie nog nooit. Daar moest verandering in komen!
Uiteraard voor alle zekerheid even een testversie gemaakt, vooraleer ik in de prachtige stof van Znok ging knippen…
Ik koos voor de testversie voor Pioner van Tidoeblomma. Ook hier maat 40 en zoals je ziet perfect qua pasvorm!

And now I got a taste for it, I cut up a second ZNOK fabric. This time to make it a Solis for ladies. I made the Solis for children several times, but never the ladies version. That had to change!
To make sure, I made a test version before I cut the beautiful fabric of Znok …
For my test version I chose a French Terry called Pioner from Tidoeblomma. Again size 40 and as you can see perfect in fit!

Vervolgens dus door naar het frisgroene, fleurige stofje van ZNOK.
Ik koos opnieuw voor de hoge taille (empire waist) omdat deze mijn taille accentueert, de cirkelrok waaiert mooi open en ‘verstopt’ mijn heupen en bips en bovendien geeft deze pasvorm mij het gevoel dat ik er langere benen mee lijk te hebben. Met mijn 1m64 vind ik dat een leuk pluspunt 🙂

Then on to the fresh green, colorful fabric of ZNOK.
I chose the high waist bodice again (empire waist) because it accentuates my waist, the circle skirt fan nicely open and ‘clogs’ my hips and bottom and moreover, this fit gives me the feeling that I seem to have longer legs with it. With my 5.4 feet, I think that’s a nice plus 🙂

Ook hier weer zo’n mooi rugdetail, en tegelijkertijd niet moeilijk om te maken!

Again such a beautiful back detail, and at the same time not difficult to make!

Mijn lente- en zomergarderobe is dus opnieuw uitgebreid! En ik heb nog net genoeg stof over om er ook voor mijn dochters nog een bijpassend kledingstuk van te maken! Of hoe het ene project weer naar het volgende leidt… 🙂

So my spring and summer wardrobe has been expanded again! And I have just enough fabric left to make a matching piece of clothing for my daughters too! Or how one project leads to the next … 🙂
